My Top Tips For Healthy Hair Through Postpartum and Mom Life

With all the hormonal shifts, the added stress, and the lack of time to take care of ourselves and eat properly all the time, our hair through these stages gets weak and dull. Here are my top tips to keep it healthy, strong, shinny, growing faster, and preventing hair loss too!

1. Good nutrition. Of course, like always, good nutrition is key and the fundament of everything. Some of the foods that help with hair are:

  • Salmon, tuna, mackerel, and other fatty fish.

  • Flaxseed oil, Flaxseeds, chia seeds, canola oil.

  • Walnuts.

  • Soybeans, tofu and cruciferous.

  • Vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts)

2. Mom's Multi. To fill in the gaps in your diet, and make sure you have all the essential nutrients and minerals for your body to thrive and not be depleted of anything (which can take a toll in your hair loss too) Mom's Multi provides all of the essential nutrients and minerals you need in a high absorption formula x15 more effective than any other pre and postnatal. So, your body absorbs it at 95% (vs 5-10%). Not only that, but it includes vitamin E and some B vitamins, Zinc and vitamin C that help with healthy hair too. And it also includes two botanical extracts and some vitamins that help lower stress levels and anxiety! Shop here.

3. Collagen daily. Although collagen powder is not great absorbed by the body, I do like to add it in my smoothies. I like this one and this one. And collagen foods to focus on include:

  • Fish, poultry, meat, eggs

  • Dairy

  • Legumes

  • Soy

  • Bell peppers

  • Leafy greens

  • Berries

  • Oranges

  • Tomatoes

  • Whole Grains

  • Nut seeds

4. Extra hair vitamins. This product is amazing and with code LG15 you can get a discount. In just 2-3 weeks of taking it daily, consistently, you'll feel your hair stronger, shinier and growing faster too. I would recommend taking it since pregnancy (at least since the end of pregnancy) as a preventative measure for postpartum hair loss (which happens around 4 months PP) and keep taking it throughout, since it will also help the hair growth process which can take up to 18 months postpartum to recover fully. I even take it years after kids, to keep it as beautiful as possible!

5. Virtue Haircare. Their products can actually FIX your hair. They use lpha Keratin 60ku®, a proprietary hair-healing protein collected from Keratin in it's pure form, and clinically proven to transform hair into its healthiest version in as little as five uses. Literally repairing hair, filling in holes of damage! They also increase hair color vibrancy, split end and reparation, increased thickness and reduce frizz.

My favorite treatments for MY hair and goals are:
