Halloween at Disneyland! Such a great time to visit & celebrate the festivity!
September & October are great months to visit the park with nice Cali weather & less crowds after the summer months and before the winter holidays. But of course, Halloween also brings some extra visitors, especially on weekends, so make sure to visit on weekdays if possible, our wait times didn’t go over 20min.
The earlier you go in the season (late September / early October) the lighter the crowds.
Both parks are outfitted with spooky decor, characters in costumes, sounds, food & treats, as well as Fall colors of yellow and orange abound, with pumpkins aplenty, especially on Main Street. You will also find hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins, which are lit at night. It truly is beautiful & makes for perfect family portraits.
For limited time, you can enjoy the Haunted Mansion Holiday, a ride overlay that runs through both Halloween and the holiday season.
This year, for the first time in nearly a decade, on select nights, all Disneyland guests can enjoy the Halloween Screams fireworks show. Before it was for private party guests. Now that the party has hopped over to California Adventure (Mickey's Halloween Party has been replaced by the Oogie Boogie Bash - a separately ticketed event at CA) everyone can enjoy this show at Disneyland too!
Fireworks enhance the show on select nights (mostly Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with a few exceptions, so check the calendar). And the supernatural projections and special effects show take place nightly during Halloween Time. So fun!
The new Oogie Boogie Bash party is one of the rare times guests 14 and up can wear costumes to Disneyland. Guests of all ages can go trick-or-treating and enjoy special entertainment, dance parties and unique character meet and greets with classic Disney characters in costumes and many Disney villains. The ride wait times tend to be shorter too. But make sure to buy tickets quick because they tend to sell out, if they haven't all yet.
